Charlottetown, 12 June 2018 — iWave is pleased to announce it is now a member of The Giving Institute, a group of carefully selected organizations who embrace and embody core values of ethics, excellence, and leadership in philanthropy.
The Giving Institute is a trade association with a long history of developing the role of philanthropy in society.
Since 1935, The Giving Institute has championed the development of widely accepted standards of professional conduct. It helped fund the first United Way and worked with New York’s legislature to develop and enact the Charity Registration Act, which became the basis for a nationwide model. Its member firms have helped charitable organizations raise billions of dollars and provided invaluable counsel to philanthropic institutions. Today, The Giving Institute is composed of more than 45 member organizations.
“The Giving Institute empowers nonprofits with ideas, research, and education,” says Gerry Lawless, iWave CTO. “We view membership as an exciting opportunity for our team to engage with the nonprofit community. Membership also provides many opportunities for our team to learn about the challenges nonprofits face and identify new ways iWave can help them.”
Becoming a member of The Giving Institute is an intensive process. New candidates are first recommended by nonprofit organizations. Members vote whether or not the Institute should accept the candidate. The vote is then ratified by the Institute’s board of directors.
A major component of membership is a requirement to embrace high ethical standards and maintain a strict code of fair practices.
“Security, trust, and confidence in the organizations and data you work with are key considerations in today’s fundraising world,” says Lawless. “We’re committed to the Institute’s standards because we believe in doing right by our clients, and in doing the right thing, plain and simple.”
