What is NonprofitOS

NonprofitOS is a platform that makes artificial intelligence and machine learning easy and useful to nonprofit organizations.

The core tool is a copywriting tool that uses the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning to produce appeals, social media content, and much more allowing you to write 16x faster, producing more relevant information for your community stakeholders and donors.

NonprofitOS was created by Cherian Koshy, CFRE & CAP and released into public beta in 2022. It is currently the only AI writing tool specifically for nonprofit organizations with models that are differentiated from sales tactics.

It is also the only content engine designed to learn from nonprofit community members. As content is created and edited, the models “learn” and output content that is more relevant and useful based on user feedback. NonprofitOS partners with Humanloop to classify this feedback and create new models.

Social Media Scheduling Tool

Tools like Buffer, Hootsuite, etc are helpful in planning for social media outreach. However, these tools can be expensive for the needs of most organizations.

If you need deep analytics, ROAS analysis, and other advanced tools, those products are the right fit for you.

If you simply need to schedule posts and view your overall performance, the NonprofitOS is a simpler and cheaper alternative. With access to all of the most popular social media platforms, no limit on the number of platforms you can post on, or how many posts you can schedule, NonprofitOS provides you with more for less.

At the request of our users, we also created a “pause” button so that nonprofit organizations can be sensitive to breaking news and avoid posting something during a sensitive time.

The tool allows you to use the AI builder to create posts to schedule or create your own, upload photos, and easily schedule into the future ensuring that you have a regular and consistent communications calendar.

Where are we going?

Our product roadmap isn’t public yet but there is so much that can be done with artificial intelligence and machine learning to make our jobs as nonprofit professionals easier, faster, and cheaper.

Don’t worry, AI is not coming for your job. Service delivery, donor relationships, and strategy will all be distinctly human activities.

However, it’s helpful to have the puzzle pieces organized before getting started. This might take the form of financial forecasting, structuring alignment with human resources and strategic plans, etc.

Quick Start Guide

Link your social accounts and send your first post in a few minutes.

Connect Your Social Media Accounts

Once you have an active account and have activated your plan, you can head to the Account Page where you will see a manage connections button to connect your accounts.

At the moment our site only supports Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin Accounts.

Connect Your Preferred Socials

We use Ayrshare to connect your social media accounts with our site. Once you tap on the manage connections button you will be navigated to Ayrshare where you can connect your social media accounts.

Once your account is linked you will see a green “linked” button above each social media account you have linked.

Create Your First Social Media Post

With your social media accounts linked you are all set to create your first post! Head over to the Text Generation tab where you will see a list of all the available post generator categories available.

Each social media post generation is based on keywords or phrases that you input in the space provided.

Keywords

We recommend using a specific prompt to help you create the most useful output as possible.

For example, on a recent product demo hosted on December 15th, we used a prompt about Bill of Rights Day: “Remind followers about the first 10 amendments to the Constitution, which make up the Bill of Rights. Plenty of quiz questions you can ask related to the Bill of Rights and some of the historical goings on when it was ratified in 1791. Identify any overlap with performing arts organizations.”

The more thorough the input, the more useful the output.

Viewing Your Results

You can view all your past generations on the My Results page where you are able to edit and schedule these posts on your connected social media accounts. On this page you can search for a specific result or filter by result type to see all results from a specific category.

Scheduling a Post

On the My Results page, locate a post you would like to schedule and tap on the post icon to bring up the post scheduler pop up.

Here you will be prompted to verify the post, make any last minute edits, select a date & time you want the post to be scheduled for and select the platforms you want the post to be created for.

Once a post has been scheduled it will appear on the Scheduler Page on the date & time you selected.

The Scheduler

The Scheduler Page is where you are able to track, edit, view, and edit all your social media posts sent through our system. Your posts are displayed in a calendar view, with completed posts colored green and upcoming posts colored in the related social media’s color.

By tapping on a day you are able to view all the posts you have scheduled for that particular day.

If you select on a particular post or the view details button you will be able to edit or delete this post. Posts that are deleted will be removed from both the related social network but also the calendar.

It is important to note that once a post has been posted you are unable to edit it and will need to create a new post if you would like to make any changes.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about NonprofitOS.

Where does the text come from?

OpenAI is a groundbreaking artificial intelligence (AI) text completion model that is based on pre-trained data from web crawling, books, and Wikipedia, among other pieces of data. This data has already been trained and then we at NonprofitOS use that data set to apply them to our own nonprofit specific models and then learn from user feedback.

What makes NonprofitOS different?

Most importantly, NonprofitOS is specifically modeled for common use cases for nonprofit organizations and fundraising. Other tools might produce more “sales” language or may not save the request to enable consistent use. As well, every NonprofitOS model is trained by the community of users. Explicit and implicit feedback helps the algorithm learn to make outputs even more relevant and useful.

Who’s behind the NonprofitOS?

Cherian Koshy is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP) who has spent the last 25+ years in nonprofits and fundraising. In 2021, he started learning about artificial intelligence and how to make it useful and accessible to nonprofit organizations.

Will this replace fundraising or marketing staff?

Absolutely not! Don’t worry, AI isn’t here to replace you.

Every Batman needs a Robin. NonprofitOS will be your assistant that never sleeps and is always there for you.

Nothing will ever replace your lived experience, professional expertise, and human creativity.

NonprofitOS should never be used as a set-it-and-forget-it approach (and won’t be successful if you do that). The expectation is that you edit and customize each output but that you’re able to do that from a first draft created for you.

What can I use NonprofitOS for?

Previously, nonprofit professionals and fundraisers would either have to use other tools to write prompts that were trial & error based, which could not be saved for future use, and would not learn.

Does NonprofitOS create original content?

Yes, the tool generates 99% original content that doesn’t repeat itself and passes plagiarism tests. You never have to worry about the AI creating plagiarized content.

Is it really unlimited?

Yes! Nearly every tool limits the number of requests or words you can produce. They do this because they need to pay OpenAI for each word that’s produced.

But for nonprofits that haven’t used AI before and need to play with the requests to produce the best output.

That’s why the NonprofitOS has no limit on the number of generations or the number of words you can produce.

Don’t worry about errors, just create all the content you need!
