iWave Information Systems Inc. is a private company based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada that provides detailed and timely information to the nonprofit sector. iWave has provided research to fundraising professionals for over 15 years. The company experienced tremendous growth upon its introduction of its web based product, Prospect Research Online, in 1996.
Company Background
iWave Information Systems Inc. was originally founded as Rainforest Publications Inc. in 1991. The company's purpose at the time was to publish a subscriber based reference directory of charitable support from the private sector, foundations and sponsorships. Marketed as the Directory of Corporate Giving in Canada, the company published 16 editions between 1989 and 1995.
With the emergence of electronic media, the company repurposed its content to CD-ROM format. This was quickly followed by the introduction of an Internet based delivery channel in Canada in 1996. With the launch of an Internet service in 1997 for clients in the United States, the internet became the sole delivery channel for the company's core product, Prospect Research Online (PRO).
